Immersive Portal
[. . .Multisensory Architectural experience. . .] Immersive Portal is a multisensory architectural experience that seamlessly blends visual and auditory immersion to transport participants beyond traditional spatial boundaries. Developed in the Immersive Design Lab (IDL) using the TouchDesigner engine, the project integrates OptiTrack trackers for precise motion tracking, real-time interaction, and dynamic deformation of a point cloud environment as well as sound localization. Incorporating 360° spatial sound design, Immersive Portal creates an enveloping sonic landscape synchronized with visual transformations. The experience unfolds in two distinct phases: the first immerses participants in a mirrored projection of the IDL, enriched by the lab’s unique acoustic properties. In the second phase, participants are virtually “teleported” to an entirely new audiovisual environment, where both visuals and soundscapes evolve to create a profound sense of presence and transformation. |
