Industrialized Sisyphus

[.   .   .Endless Pick and Place of mechanical sisyphus.   .   .]

*   *   * Punished for cheating death twice
Forced to roll an immense boulder up a hill only for it to roll down every time it neared the top, repeating this action for eternity.   .   .

Albert Camus
_ “an absurd hero”
Richard Taylor_ “Representation of a life made meaningless, consists of bare repetition”

The robot are servo motor creatures cheating death, yet contrary to Sisyphus they have been created by humans to do repetitive tasks.   .   .

Borrowed from French servo-moteur:
Latin servus "slave" + French motor
J. Farcot introduced such a mechanism in the 1860's in the publication Le servo-moteur ou moteur asservi (Paris, 1873)
